The various Lecanora species that I've photographed and have been able to identify have their own page and associated 'species account' but, with so many described forms, there are undoubtably going to be many instances when I won't be able to distinguish the species.  Â
Although I estimate that there are around forty different varieties that could possibly be found locally within the combined East Dorset and New Forest area, a more realistic figure is probably nearer to twenty as previously noted. However, I don't really expect to find many more new species, so I thought I'd include this page for some of those that I've seen that will likely remain unidentified as they may be useful reference photos in the future.
