COLLEMBOLA > ENTOMOBRYOMORPHA > ENTOMOBRYOIDEA > Entomobryidae > Entomobryinae
This is the only other form of the genus that is likely to be encountered in Britain. It grows to much the same size as the previously described Entomobrya species at around 2mm long and has a similar pale yellowish-brown ground colour. The amount of pigmentation that can occur on the abdomen of this species is variable and patchy at best, with no discernable pattern other than two dark posterior spots either side of the midline of the fourth segment. In most cases though, Entomobrya nicoleti is a rather plain species with little or no additional pigmentation apart from the characteristic spots, which are always present even if faded. Entomobrya nicoleti is a widespread species that is most frequently found at ground level under surface debris such as fallen branches, dislodged loosened bark, old timber etc.
