Designation: 'micro-moth'
Status: common and widespread across England and Wales, rare in Scotland
Typical habitat: calcareous grassland, marshes, gardens
Larval foodplant:Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â mainly Cat-mint, Wild Marjoram, Meadow Clary and thymes
Flight behaviour: flies in sunshine and to light, and easily disturbed by day
Flight season: April - September, with overlapping broods
Note: listed as a recognised day-flying (DF) species; also known as the Small Purple and Gold
