Pimplinae
Scambus nigricans
HYMENOPTERA > APOCRITA | Parasitica > Ichneumonidae > Pimplinae > Ephialtini
This female was positively identified as Scambus nigricans by a local expert. Although there are very few confirmed records for this species, it has been recorded from this particular location.
I can't find any useful information regarding its biology other than it has been reared from stem-boring sawflies of the genera Heptamelus of which there are just two British species whose larvae bore inro ferns.
